The After Hours Process

A brief overview of what is going on from the time you reach out with your idea until your project is finished.

Where we start

It starts with your ideas. We take them as a foundation and  see what they can lead to. Initially we go over the basics like dimensions, style and materials. A plus are some inspirational photos to give me an idea of what you are looking for.

If you would like your project to be finished by a certain date please let me know so I can see if the current workload allows me to to complete it in time.

And last but not least it is important to talk about your budget for the project to see if your ideas can be realized with the budget you have set.

Head over to the contact form and get started.

Estimate

This is the ballpark number. Once I have all the necessary information, I will crunch some numbers to provide you a possible price range for your project.  Depending on the size and complexity, it might take anywhere from a few hours to a day or two.

Site visit

If the estimated cost works for you we set some time aside for a visit. We can go over some more details that might not have come up yet and I will take some measurements and get an understanding of where the project will be installed. Due to my regular job those visits can be arranged in the time from 9am - 12pm or on the weekends.

Proposal

I will put all the information together to create a proposal that outlines the project's scope, start date, estimated timeline and costs. Depending on the project, some basic 3D drawings will be included. All this will be sent to you via email which also contains a link to place the deposit.

Deposit

A 50% deposit secures your project's position on the calendar and covers material expenses. The deposit is refundable (with processing fees deducted) until materials are purchased.

Refinement

If design changes need to be made or the project scope needs to be adjusted we will work it out between the deposit and the build phase. Depending on the changes additional costs may arise.

The build phase

If we have not been in contact in the meantime I will reach out to you before I start on your project to verify with you that nothing changed. By that time however all materials are on hand and everything is ready to go.

Almost Done

Once I know a definitive date for completing the build I will reach out to you to arrange for delivery and/or installation scheduling.

The 2nd Payment

For projects exceeding $5,000 in value, a payment equivalent to 40% of the total cost is required prior to transport from the workshop. Once the payment is received everything is good to go and we're ready for the installation.

Installation

Since almost everything of the project will be completed in my shop the time it takes to install is usually not too long. It can range from a day to multiple days depending on the size of the project, the drive to and from the site and the current schedule of my day job.

The Finished Project

With installation complete, any necessary cleanup done, and final payment settled, your project is complete. If the outcome meets your expectations, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could consider leaving a review on Google to help others like you discover my services.
